Tuesday, January 13: now that I have the date right....

Monday, January 11: last week before "exam week"
Today, we are going to continue working on your final broadcasts (aka your exams). Here is where everyone stands so far:
Topic and topic outline
Everyone has this done except I am lacking a topic outline from Lucas and Phil. If I missed seeing them guys, please pardon the old guy with weak eyes. Other than that, you need to get 'em to me! Text of on air identifier and chosen file(s) for your theme song
Most of you have already done this, except for the following people:
on air ID --> Dcal, Brian, David, Ian, Tim, Mike P., Phil and Lucas
theme song chosen --> Dcal, David, Ian, Tim, Phil and Lucas
theme song recorded and finished --> so far, I have this only from the following people:
Mike P, Max, Matt W, Jake
Additionally, everyone will need to begin work on a "script" for your final broadcast. Here are the parameters for this item:
Each of you is expected to set up a script based on your topic and outline. The script needs to include at least three major statements you want to make about each of the five to seven points in your outline. Each statement must be made in the form of a complete sentence. This needs to be posted to our Google group under the heading that includes your name plus the word "Script" Take your time, and really think about what you want to say. We're still good for time, so no worries, OK? PLEASE NOTE: You should not be recording any part of your main broadcast until this is done first!
Tuesday, January 6, 2009
Wed, January 7: keep on keepin' on!
Today you will need to continue with what we began on Monday ( and if you've forgotten what that is, please read the blog posting from that day) Here is where stand so far:
Broadcast Topic:
Take a bow, I have one from everybody
Topic Outline:
I have most of an outline from Paul K and Jake W. (guys, please check your emails)
I have all of an outline from Max V. and John H.
I haven't gotten one from anyone else here. You all need to remedy that right away. as in NOW
On air ID (emailed)
I have this from Max V. Paul K. and 'Drew. ; the rest of you still owe this to me
chosen theme song
I have this from 'Drew and Paul K. and (sort of) from Max. Everyone else still needs to get this to me by email
OK, you have a lot to do, let's get down to doing it!
Cheers,
Mr. L

Monday, January 5: Welcome back!
What I would like to begin with today is some basic exam prep. That may sound backwards, but think about it: exactly what kind of exam could we have in a class like this? How do you fit Radio Production into a multiple choice format? So here is what we are going to begin with:
A) The "exam" -- such as it is-- must be an individual effort. This is NOT a group project!
B) As such, each of you is responsible for your own work. Your exam grade will be YOUR exam grade
C) First and foremost, each of you will be required to make an individual radio broadcast, using the equipment next door. The final product must be an mp3 file.
D) Long before that final product rolls out, Each of you will need to come up with a topic for your final broadcast. It can be anything you want, provided that it is school appropriate. You will need to email that idea for a final project TODAY. Your full name and the word "topic" must be present in the Subject line.
E) After I have emailed you back APPROVING this topic, you may then proceed to developing an outline for it, detailing at least 5 to 7 things you want to say about your topic while you are making your broadcast. Each item must be listed as a complete sentence. Your full name and the words "topic out line" must be in the Subject line
F) You may keep the radio name you have made for yourself, but as an individual broadcaster, you must come up with a new theme song -- just as we did at the beginning of the course--and a new "on air identifier". Both the name of the song(s) you intend to use to create your theme song, AND the exact words you intend to use in your "identifier" must be emailed to me TODAY. Please put your full name and the phrase "theme and identifier" in the Subject line of your email.
That should be enough for a start for today. Time permitting, we may try to get to some other items, but only if it is absolutely possible
As always, there is to be no game playing of ANY kind. I will simply shut you down for the remainder of the class if you make the attempt. If you get "bored" why then, make yourself useful
the faster we go,
the rounder we get

Thursday December 17th: time to get ALL DECEMBER SHOWS UPLOADED to ME!
We are REALLY starting to run short on time. For one thing, we won't be here tomorrow. For another thing, after this week, we only have one day after today to realistically get any work done: Monday. Other than that, all you have is today.
SO FAR, THE ONLY DECEMBER SHOW I HAVE FOUND IS FOR Brooke/Ryan and the PIT Sports crew. FOR THE REST OF YOU, I NEED TO HAVE SOMETHING BY THE END OF CLASS TODAY. btw, if I have missed what you uploaded, please let me know
The assignment was to either explain how to do something that you already do, or explain how to achieve some special effect in Adobe Audition. I was unable to find a discussion posting on either topic for the following people:
Calvario, Derrick
Carter, Brian
Kelley, Paul
Marcus, Ian
Muscanell, Craig
O'Malley, Timothy
Pichel, Philip
Additionally, I will need some additional information from the following people:
Lerner,David
Palmer, Michael
Steedman,Andrew
West,Matthew
Whittles,Jake
I like what you've done, but it doesn't completely fit the assignment, which is to tell me how you DO something. Could you include a paragraph or two on HOW to do something from what you wrote already please? And, please include links to useful sites that have some more information
Hamilton,Ryan
Hinkel,John
Wise,Lucas --- Excellent work, but could you upload an audio example that demonstrates this effect please?
OK, that ought to do it for this morning. Again, most importantly, YOU MUST UPLOAD SOME VERSION OF YOUR DECEMBER SHOW TODAY.
Cheers,
Mr. L
